Inspired by the town’s historic Flax Mill, the striking play tower stands as a centrepiece — complete with huge slides, lofty viewing platforms, and rope climbs that encourage adventure for all ages. The design pays tribute to the region’s strong agricultural roots, with a sensory play area featuring tractors, farm animals, windmills, water channels, and a charming roadside farm shop — bringing the authentic rural lifestyle to life for younger visitors. Inclusive and intergenerational by design, the playspace features accessible experiences for everyone, from spinning, swinging, and bouncing to music-making inspired by Boyup Brook’s famous country music heritage. Surrounding the main play area is a bike track with obstacles, signage, and interactive play zones, a fitness hub designed with seniors in mind, and a ninja warrior course that winds through the trees for a sense of adventure and challenge. Highlights include a 30-metre cableway that lets kids soar like the local wedge-tailed eagles, a feature boulder for climbing enthusiasts, and a table tennis area perfect for friendly competitions. A dedicated dog park, complete with agility elements and amenities, ensures every family member is welcome. With creative wayfinding, feature lighting, and thoughtful design throughout, Sandakan Park is more than a playground — it’s a vibrant community destination where history, play, and connection come together.
