Sand & Water Play

Sensory play facilitates exploration and naturally encourages children to use scientific processes while they create, investigate and explore. The stimulation that comes from touch receptors in our skin and how it reacts to pressure, heat/cold, texture or vibration helps to build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways. Tactile experiences with different mediums such as sand, water, mulch, pebbles, textured pathways and boardwalks can be strategically incorporated into playspace design. The opportunities for tactile experiences in a playspace are endless!
