Discover The Power Of Sand Play

Sand play is a powerful way to provide children with opportunities to experiment, test, explore, create and imagine. Sensory play allows children to engage in tactile experiences which activate nerve pathways in the brain and contribute to children reaching developmental milestones. Playing with sand can instil a sense of calm in children and often provides positive outcomes for those experiencing anxiety.
Research has shown that adults also benefit from sensory play opportunities. Walking along a sandy beach barefoot and feeling the sand between your toes, gently brushing your hand over the grass as you lay in the sunshine or letting the water run through your fingers as it trickles down a stream. We can all relate to the positive impact of sensory experiences.
There are many ways in which sensory play experiences can be embedded within play space design. Check out our Creative Juice Page for more inspiration.
